Updates from the Practice Team

Flu vaccine

Mar 13 2017
This year's flu vaccine is now available.  Please contact us on 8018188 to make an appointment to have this done.  If you are  65 or over  or have an approved medical condition there is no charge for the vaccination.

Dr Pam Olver's leave

Feb 14 2017
Dr Pam Olver is currently on sabbatical leave until March 2018.  We are pleased that Dr Vanessa Souter, who was a GP registrar in the practice in 2015, is available to see her patients.  Patients may also see Dr Colin Thomas or Dr Nisha Chalam if they wish.

Prescription fees

Feb 14 2017
From 7 February 2017, there is an increase in charges for repeat prescriptions.  The charge is now $18.00 and the fee for faxing or posting prescriptions has increased to $6.00.  For those patients who qualify for  long term funding subsidies for their three monthly visits, this means it will be cheaper to have a doctor or nurse consultation when your prescription renewal is due. For children under 13 repeat prescriptions remain free of charge although the fax/postage fee applies if they are faxed to a pharmacy or posted out.

Patient Experience Survey

Oct 31 2016

From November the practice will be participating in a national survey to find out what patient's experience of healthcare is like and how your overall care is managed.

Taking part is voluntary.  Survey invitations will be emailed or texted to patients through a national system that has been funded by the Ministry of Health.  Patients will receive a website link and be asked to complete the survey within 3 weeks.

Those patients who take part will be anonymous and their privacy protected throughout.  The practice shares contact details, including email address and mobile number so that they may receive an invitation to complete the survey on line.

By taking part in the survey patients will be helping to improve care and access to health services in local communities across New Zealand

Immunisation Week 2016

  • Get immunised while pregnant.   It helps protect baby from the serious effects of whooping cough and influenza
  • It is funded and recommended in each pregnancy
  • The vaccines are safe for use in pregnancy

Changes to the Shared Care Record

Aug 25 2015

Since 7 April 2014, a summary of your health records has been immediately available to hospital clinicians and afterhours GPs, as the electronic Shared Care Record was launched in Wellington, Porirua and the Kapiti Coast.

From 20 April 2015, there has been some changes to the Shared Care Record. In brief, this means:

  • GPs are now able to access the Shared Care Record for casual patients seen in their practices.
  • GP access to the Shared Care Record has been extended to include the Hutt Valley region.

The Shared Care Record lets authorised health care providers, such as after hours GPs and hospital doctors, access a summary of information from your GP.

Information like your test results, medical conditions, allergies and prescribed medications will be shared. The information will be available at any time, even if our medical practice is closed.

The information is stored securely in New Zealand and all access to the information is recorded and routinely audited.

You can choose to withhold some or all of your information. However, if you choose to withhold your information, health professionals involved in your care, for example in an emergency or after hours situation, may not immediately have information available and this could delay appropriate treatment and mean additional tests are needed.

If you don’t wish other health providers to have access to your Shared Care Record, you can opt-out by calling us on 0800 727 664, telling your GP, or sending a letter to the freepost address below:
